Awarded the Jean Morlet prize by the SF2M and Aperam

Published: 15 December 2022

Médaile Jean Morlet 2022 à Julien GUÉNOLÉI am most proud to have been awarded the Jean Morlet prize by the SF2M (Société Française de Métallurgie et de Matériaux) and Aperam. This prize is the recognition of my work on the modeling of the behavior of metallic materials towards the design of property-by-design innovative alloys. I would like to thanks all my collaborators around de world that have contributed to this achievment.

Welcome to Joé!

Published: 01 October 2022

I am glad to welcomeI Joé PETRAZOLLER in my group as PhD student. He will work on the atomistic simulation and micromechanical modeling of chemo-mechanical couplings in the presence of crystal defects under the supervision of Thiebaud RICHETON, Stéphane BERBENNI and myself. We are very gratefull to the support of the Université de Lorraine and the French Ministry of Research.

SILA: a new ANR-DFG research project

Published: 29 September 2022

In combination with the DFG (German research fundation), the ANR (French national research agency) announced the support of our project SILA devoted to the study of Segregation at Interfaces in Lightweight Alloys towards tailored mechanical properties. This bi-lateral germano-french research project will support the collaboration between our teams at the LEM3 in Metz, and the IMM reasearch institute at the RWTH in Aachen. More details my Research projects page.

Welcome to Sudheer!

Published: 01 September 2022

I am very happy to Welcome Sudheer GANISETTI in my group as design ingeneer (ingénieur d'étude) to work on the ANR Project AtoUum "Atomistic fundamentals of plasticity at interfaces in lightweight complex alloys and transfer to continuum models". As former PhD student at the FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg, Sudheer is an expert in molecular dynamics of glasses and in the implementation of interatommic potential in MPI codes.

Talk at ICSMA on 28 June 2022

Published: 19 July 2022

I have been honored to present our work on the numerical atomistic characterization of interfacial plasticity: the case of complex lightweight intermetallics, on June 28, 2022, at the International Conference on Strength of Materials (ICSMA) that was held in Metz (France). This was part of the honorary symposium for Alain Jacques.

TimeMan Seminar, 24 Mars 2022

Published: 23 March 2022

I am glad to talk about Atomistic Aspects of the Plasticity in Complex Intermetallics of our work during a TimeMan Seminar, on Mars 24, 2022, at 14:00 (GMT+2). The TimeMan Seminar is a virtual seminar series intended to provide a venue for continued sharing of academic ideas and results of relevance for our community in a time when travel to conferences and seminars has been significantly impacted. This is part of the ERC Advanced Grant TimeMan.

Here is the video of the seminar: https://pod.univ-lille.fr/video/25736-timeman-seminar-julien-guenole/
